Bukit Brown Cemetery or "Coffee Hill" is an old cemetery in Singapore. It's named after the first owner of the area, George Henry Brown. It closed down in the 1970s with the area covering more than 100,000 graves. A few years back part of the cemetery saw the building of a new motorway right through and on 20 years it will be subject to re-development. Until then you can wander amongst the grown over graves and see gargoyle-like creatures staring at you through the dark green of the jungle. Oh, we went on the 15th of the 7th month. Hungry Ghost festival. We behaved respectfully and quiet and the ghosts didn't do us any harm.
