A lot of friends have been there and their raving comments made us consider going to the tear shaped island of Sri Lanka. We did expect a lot and it was actually even better. There is so much variety packed into such a small country and who could not have a great day when your morning starts with a splendid cup of tea and a breakfast of what they call "egg hoppers"? We started the trip in Colombo and explored the bustling streets and sights before going to the old Fort of Galle enjoying the sunsets and relaxed pace of a small, colonial town. One night in Tangalle with a perfect stretch of beach just for ourselves. And then safaris in the Yala Nationalpark spotting Leopards and Elephants. Our guides pointed us to a previously unidentified male Leopard. And since I took the first photo of Mr. Unknown ... his name is now "Bjoern". The poor beast. After all that excitement we treated ourselves to some luxury in the highlands surrounded by tea plantations before slowly making our way back to Colombo, findings countless treasures in roadside car dealerships. We will definitely be back.
